About Birthright Geauga

We provide compassionate support for pregnant women and families with young children.

History

Birthright International was founded in February 1968 in Toronto, Canada, by Louise Summerhill. From the beginning, the mission was simple and compassionate: to offer unconditional support to any woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

In Louise’s own words: “We give help, no matter what stage of pregnancy the girl finds herself. The fact is, no matter who is on the other end of the telephone line, if that person is in need, we give help… Every girl or woman who becomes pregnant—whether she is married or single—has the right to give birth and to be given the help to carry the child to term. We must take a personal interest in her well-being, appreciate her specific needs, and use the strength of our community to help her resolve her difficulties.”

That same compassionate philosophy continues to guide us today. Birthright now supports not only pregnant women, but also families with young children.

Birthright Geauga, Inc. became an official chapter of Birthright International in 1972. Since then, we have remained dedicated to providing free, non-judgmental, and confidential support to women and families in our community. With a caring and understanding staff, we offer tangible help and heartfelt encouragement—because we believe in nurturing life with love.

At Birthright Geauga, we serve one family, one child, and one heart at a time.
